What a beautiful glimpse into your heart. Thank you.

I too love the story-writing game about strangers. It’s most fun to have a willing partner play along in the creation.

Your writing grabbed me right away, as I have the same sort of face.. tho mine is when my eyes first meet that of a stranger’s. I became a therapist partially because of this, and it’s been a heart felt way to live my career.

I cover the funeral industry, so I read a ton of obituaries (they get mixed up in my "funeral home" alert). I'm increasingly interested in the photos. Like, "THIS" is the photo the family thought was the best. Recently a lady's obit listed all of her family and then: "Her favorite color was purple." That's all the world needed to know about her, I guess. I'm always fascinated by what the family thought was important, or what they could remember. Thanks for a wonderful story.

Lovely, Maya -- thank you for this gem. I am the opposite. People find me foreboding and harsh (my Montana armor, I guess) until they talk to me. As a teacher I was always crouching down by my students' desks, trying to make myself smaller, less unapproachable. What you have is a gift.

You and me both! Just today an older lady in the bathroom of a Savers thrift shop told me all about her church trip to Italy ten years ago, when she was between her second and third husband. I could’ve stood there listening to her for an hour!
