That was just captivating from beginning to end. Your story, Kimberly is open mouth amazing and your grace and strength in navigating through everything is just astonishing. You and I have crossed paths a few times (for which I'm very grateful) and I've always found you to be so kind and generous and giving of your thoughts and time. I guess I just want to say that considering your health challenges, and all the opportunities you've been given to fall to the wayside and feel bitter, or aggrieved or whatever else, I'm just in awe of your style! I'm not one for role models, but if I was you'd be up there! Thank you.

And thanks Mary for that fascinating interview and for delving into everything from family stories to creativity to the human condition. I really enjoyed it.

Gosh, Jonathan. This is such a generous comment. I feel seen. I look back and bow to the little five year old in me who trudged through waist-deep snow to retrieve a piece of trash, chanting “I think I can, I think I can” (or so my mom tells), for she’s the one with the willpower to see beyond obstacles. I can honestly say I didn’t know I had it in me to persist until I my body/life gave me no choice, but as a result, discovered an unconditional kind of stamina/strength that maybe was seeded 40+ years ago in that snow.:)

And I had to laugh at your comment about “my style.” Though I know what kind of style you meant, to most, my most obvious style—sweats, a fleece jacket, and knit hat—is nothing to emulate! 😂

Brava! Thank you both for such an honest, bare, open, insightful conversation. We do not see this on the vast majority of traditional and social media these days. Just shouting about what's wrong and who's to blame. You are a true breath of fresh air. The Blake quote at the end summed it up perfectly. Thank you Kimberly and Mary.

Kimberly: It is magical the way you've assembled these experiences to have so much combined heft and meaning. You've made your life a poem. Thank you, Mary, for this wonderful interview. Congratulations, Kimberly, on the book publication of Unfixed! Both of you are treasures. (And oddly, this relates to what I'm writing for Inner Life next. I'll be referring back to it next week.)

Thank you Tara. No one has ever referred to my life as a poem, but I love this!!!
